Calling all Hibernophyles!

The festive Making Winter blog hop seems a long time ago now. Thank you to everybody who joined in & brought some hygge to the season! If you want a reminder of all those who took part please pop over to Silverpebble or look at the photos.

Now that Christmas is officially over...

All the leftover food has been consumed (or frozen)

We took the tree down last night & it is now waiting, forlornly, by the dustbins, ready to be taken to the Christmas tree recycling point.

I collected all the Christmas cards together & upcycled them ready for next year. This involved watching a film on TV, drinking wine, drawing around the glass of wine & doing lots of cutting out & sticking...(That's my kind of multi-tasking!)

50 cards ready for next year, cost including envelopes, £2.99

The upcoming months are going to be a real challenge for me as a hibernophyle to convince Emma, the hibernophobe, of the wonders of winter. I know that she regards these months as the very worst in the year! So for the January blog hop we're going to be thinking about cosiness & comfort...

The next Making Winter blog hop will be hosted by Silverpebble, starting on Monday 23rd January 2012.

P.S. Hibernophobe comes up as Hobnob on spellchecker...& hygge is hugger...

Silly spell-checker!

Your tree looks so forlorn, poor thing.

At least this winter hasn't been as icy cold as last year and I have been able to get out and about, but I can't wait for spring I don't much like winter. It's lack of light that gets me down. I have enjoyed looking at the pictures though, thank you!

..and Blythe (the place) used to come out as "Blotto" on an early spellchecker we had.

You can find entertainment anywhere if you look!

That's a great idea of recycling your cards and usually make Christmas tags with them will get out the glass of wine and copy you!

Love the cards you have made,I always make gift tags for next year out of this year's cards.Where do you find the cardstock and envelopes so reasonably priced please ?

I wish I'd seen your upcycled cards before I put mine into our recycling bin. I may have to delve in and reclaim them.

I'm pleased that you like the cards. I found the 50 cards & envelopes in the sale section of Hobbycraft. They were in packaging that was really bashed up & had seen better days!(Hence the major reduction in price)
I would normally have bought the card then folded & cut it myself instead.

That is TOO organised!! I'm very impressed, now put them some where safe so that you don't lose them!
Looking forward to the next blog hop.

From one hibernophyle to another; happy, peaceful, creative new year to you. Thank you for hosting Making Winter last month. Reading your post geared me into dismantling the christmas tree too... Not my favourite of tasks but it's good when it's done.

Hi, I've just blog hopped here and love your recycled cards. I make everlasting cards so you only have to make them once or twice (if the recipient does not make their own to send the next year). The recipient sends them back the next year.
Love from Mum

Another hibernophyle here! Years ago I used to recycle our cards like that with the children. Time to have another bash at it methinks, although once I weed out all the glittery ones I won't have that many to play with. What was it with the glitter this year?!

Cosy means big knitted blankets and shawls to me, and mugs of proper hot chocolate :D

Love the cards! Another fun thing is to crease the circles around a triangle then attach them together into a ball-shaped ornament (I've explained it very badly). But sending them out again is an even better option, I think. Kudos to you for thinking so far ahead.

Ready for the next blog hop with a wristwarmer pattern!

Hi, I just discovered your blog via Little Cotton Rabbits. I love your recycled cards as well as your virtual vase of flowers! Having recently moved to the country, we are hoping to become more self-sufficient in 2012 and your blog is an inspiration. Happy New Year! Marie x
