Cheap & Cheesy

Go for a cheap circular soft cheese (this one cost under £1), push thick slices of garlic in to it, drizzle with oil, season, add fresh herbs, wrap in foil, put in a medium hot oven for about 15-20 minutes...(or as long as it takes to melt)

...eat with bread or dunk bits of chopped carrot, pepper, cucumber, cauliflower, etc...in & try to pretend it's not raining (or give to visitors & soak up the praise).

If there are any leftovers, chop finely & add to a white sauce, quiche, pizza or jacket potato.

P.S. Cheese freezes...so I bought two!

This is my go to option whenever we have a barbecue - cooks just as well alongside the sausages and the foil protects from meat juices - but I skip the garlic and eat with salad and garlic bread instead. Yum :D

mmmm, I think if I was presented with that to eat I could certainly forget about the rain and feel very happy indeed. Thanks for the idea x

Sounds absolutely delicious, and given the rotten weather the fact that I'd think of it as a winter treat makes perfect sense!

Garlic, cheese, and herbs - a trifecta of deliciousness. We don't usually do soft cheeses (except goat) but this makes me want to branch out. Thanks!

Oh yum, that looks amazing. We sometimes do that as a quick and easy starter if we've got people coming over for supper. Never thought to add garlic though, I'll give that a try. x

yum, and I love Annie's idea of putting it on the bbq. I've made a version with chopped apple, cranberries and almonds on the cheese, it's like Christmas in a cheese x
