Paper Cuts

Inspired by the stunningly creative work of Su Blackwell & in need of some thrifty entertainment, a small group of us settled in for an evening of cuts...

What do you do with a book that is falling to pieces, has missing pages & is on it's way to the recycling bin?

...turn it in to something else!

To see more, visit one of my fellow paper-cutters over at the Reading Room

The germs have gone, the food challenge continues but the freezer & cupboards have a lot less in them now...

Love the little house! Are you going to make some economical food to go inside out of the remaining pages?!!!

Wow, that Su Blackwell site is mindblowing. I think your cottage and your friend's tree are pretty brilliant for first attempts.

but I cannot bring myself to cut up a book!

I'm with Angela. I'm somehow happy to have shelves groaning under the weight of books that I never open but shudder at the thought of hacking into them. Think your cottage is a delight though, so maybe I could be persuaded. C.x

I just adore that house. See, all we need is another five or so, and we'd have the perfect hamlet for our Christmas scene... ;-) This was so much fun, and I would never have thought to try it without your help! Definitely we need to have another go.

Ah, the first cut was the hardest...but the books were missing pages, had broken spines & were on their way to the recycling! ( I wouldn't normally cut up books!)

I spent many happy hours doing this last year for a brochure I was designing. Here it is - http://pinterest.com/pin/205617539206806735/

I love your little house, and I like the way you "re-purposed" something broken into something beautiful.

I followed your link to Su Blackwell's work...oh gosh it's so fabulous.

It's good to hear that you're feeling better, still got some provisions left in the house and still making wonderful meals.

That little house is delightful, with just the right amount of detail, and a very clever use of the printed word. I do like the idea of giving old, very damaged books a second life. I wonder if sculptures made from magazines would have that same sort of resonance?

Best wishes.

I really like coffee lady's paper house- maybe, out there is a whole paper town/village just waiting to be discovered!

Love your little house, thanks for the link to Su B Some stunning stuff. Would find it nearly impossible to do a cut in to a book, but perhaps better to be turned in to something else before it gets recycled, I struggle to cut in to magazines never mind books!
Quite inspirational thank you.
