Pea Shooters

Inspired by the sudden increase in temperatures, 'spring clearing' the shed seemed a suitably busy outdoor activity.

Lurking towards the back were crates left over from the Christmas clementines.

In the kitchen cupboard there was a lonely packet of dried peas, leftovers from a mushy pea phase...

Soil was shovelled, peas scattered, water sploshed...

A mere ten days later...

peas shoots!

They have been sampled (scattered on risotto). They are delicious.

I've already planted some more.

You're back! How lovely. I had success with these a couple of years ago, really easy and, as you say, delicious. I'm planning to get some going in a week or two when space allows.

Been very, very busy at work, then away on a fabulous holiday but now back! How are you?
Any other pea shoot ideas? Neither of us can walk past without being tempted to sneak a quick taste...

Welcome back from across the broad Atlantic.

You've got a great idea there, and a reminder to always have a look around home before going out to shop.

I completely understand about non-blogging busy times, and hope that you'll be posting again soon.

I was just thinking about you and how you'd disappeared, last week. So good to hear from you and top pea tip.
Perhaps see you at Brunswick's 50th birthday tomorrow???

Lovely to see you again. What a good idea, I'd heard that buying/using dried peas like these(cheaper than the 'proper' sort)worked for shoots but I haven't ever tried it. Love them in salad so will def need to give it a go at some point. Your blog is always an inspiration.

I hope we'll get to hear about the holiday.... (says the nosey American)

This is a great idea - and the orange crate is genius.

I wonder if this would work with dried split peas? We have lots of those (because split pea soup just doesn't thrill me).

So nice to see you back. :)

Wonderful to see you back. There's a delicious summer salad that I treat myself too sometimes (*whispers* from Waitrose) and it has pea shoots in it. Ten days is such a short time. There's no excuse to not give this a go.
