It was really exciting to take part in the Making Winter Project. The photos were wonderful and all the links to cooking & creating were inspiring.
I'm thrilled that Emma felt more positive about winter. I'm hoping that she'll be looking forward to next winter with unbridled enthusiasm....?!
The only downside for me was the lack of consistent winter weather.
Here's my latest offering for the cut flower challenge (again I can't bear cutting anything from the garden so am offering up prunings of cornus instead)

It felt like winter was back again today - cold and foggy! I wrapped myself up in my huge knitted shawl and ate a toasted crumpet and marmaelade.

We have been on the beach soaking up the sun shine after miserable coughs and colds. I am loving that I have been able to dry clothes on the washing line these past few days, always a sign of spring for me :0) I'm absolutely loving your cuttings xox
It's pretty chill and grey here just now, but still nothing like winter should have been. After so much snow the last two years I really missed not having a flake this time around.
I know what you mean about the blog break ... sometimes you need to step away just to get on with living, how these folk who blog every day do it I just don't know! Nice to have you back though :D
I love your cornus in the mason jars. I tried to grow flowers to cut last summer to save money on my fresh flowers indulgence and could hardly bare to cut them and bring them into the house!
I have such mixed feelings about winter: not a winter person at all and begin to crave light, but this year we have had so little real cold and real cold is great for my garden and makes me engage with it, whether I like it or not. Still my daffodils are out and everything is shimmering with life so bring on spring.
The cornus is beautiful, especially with the tiny delicate leaves.
Our winter was less than wintry too - I actually found myself wishing for more snow. However, I'm not complaining about the early spring we seem to be having. (No daffodils yet though - maybe in a few weeks if the weather holds up.)
Thanks so much for co-inaugurating the MW project. It was great fun and really helped the season to fly by.
P.S. I hope we'll get to see the fruit of your crafting time. :)
Here in New York, we continue to be teased by strangely warm springlike weather. We know that traditionally around this time of the calendar year we might be walking on ice and shoveling snow.
So strange. And yet, quite lovely. xo
It's been good to follow your project, but I agree, it has been a rather indeterminate sort of winter - not the sharp, invigorating chill of the previous two years.
Lovely to see you back! Plsd you're OK and just busy. We don't seem to have had any winter at all this year. Goodness only knows what sort of a summer we'll get.
Well done for helping to convert Emma and thank you for your hard work and lovely inspirations.

Yes I too am very glad you're back but also pleased that you took a break to do other things. We should all feel entitled to a blog free time when we need to. I love those hellebores-they are the same as mine and lift my spirits on the walk to the garden gate.
