What to do whilst awaiting a Jubilee Flotilla?

I woke up very early this morning.

It was raining. Mr TH was fast asleep.

There were hours to go until the flotilla watching (TV watching not in person watching)... so I made jam.

Having enjoyed the most wonderful blackcurrant jam at Silverpebble's special '*0th-Birthday-Do', I decided to make my own. We had some freeze-dried blackcurrants in the cupboard & so I experimented...

Two jars were produced with just enough left over for scones this afternoon...

P.S. Blackcurrant stains can be removed by pouring white vinegar directly over the stain...works like magic!

Thank you for the tip. I have black currants in my garden and love them as syrup ... there are stains all over sometimes.

Oh you are a funny lady! Lots of Jubilee feeling, some home preserving, and then...a cleaning tip right at the close.

Yes that is a great tip does it work all fruit and veg stains too?
I'm sure you most have enjoyed your jam and scones while watching the amazing spectacle of all those boats.

I like the idea of one pot of jam made simply for eating that day.

That certainly sounds like a great use of the time available!

Yum. How delicious on a thickly buttered wedge of crusty white. Or scones, of course. Wasn't the flotilla wonderful? Ax

Well, what a coincidence, I watched whilst making Apple Chilli Jam - took at least 500 boats before it would get to setting point!
