Autumn Colour

Just before I went away, I spent a few hours doing a mini tidy-up in the garden.

To be honest not much tidying up was done as I spent far too much time admiring the last of the autumn colour

& marvelling as those colours glowed when the sun shone through them.

What are those gorgeous purple berries? I love that colour.

We had a hard frost last night so most of my plants are kaput.

Lovely pics of your garden - there's nothing better on a lovely autumn day than a good mooch round the garden and making the most of it before it all disappears.

More simple pleasures and that hydrangea is gorgeous. I used the cut flowers of one last year (it had less dense flower-heads) and sprayed it silver. It looked lovely on the mantle-piece mingling with lit candles at Christmas. I will repeat and blog the idea soon. Yours would work with or without spraying since the flowers are full and colourful.

The plant with purple berries is a callicarpa. The berries stay on even after the leaves have fallen.

It can be quite hard to concentrate on anything else when sunlight hits autumn leaves...
