Puppy Love (but not quite...)

Ever since I was a child, I've wanted a dog.

I used to walk a neighbour's dog. She, the dog- not the neighbour, was a bit mad but totally wonderful...

I've often suggested to (nagged) Mr TH that we should get a dog.

He's not so keen.

As part of my persuade-Mr-TH-that-he-really-does-want-a-dog campaign (otherwise known as nagging); I went for this option...

When Mr TH had eventually stopped laughing...

I'm still deciding on exactly where to place the eyes- hence the white pins...

  He still said, 'No'.

Maybe one day...

Oh, but your stuffed one is adorable!

I think there is mileage in the idea of a dog-share. A neighbour with a willing pooch seems pretty ideal. No kennel fees when you're on holiday but lots of walks when you fancy it.

He's cute, clean (no puddles from him) cheap to feed and will never need the vet. Mr TH might have something there!!! However he won't "fetch" or cuddle up with you or go for walks either so maybe ....one day!

Oh soooooooo cute! How could Mr TH possibly refuse? Clearly, serious emotional blackmail is needed! ;-)

You need to make sure that every time Mr TH looks up, he meets two pleading button eyes begging for a playmate...!

You need to keep Mr TH away from Mr Knitso ... I remember my joy when my persuade-Mr-Knitso-that-he-really-does-want-a-dog campaign worked. And we have 7 dogs now ... oops!

Looove both doggies. I ragged my mr. too for a dog and now she's nearly twelve and a half years old. It took some convincing, naggoin g, ragging, but I got my sweet miss Charlie ; )
Good luck and try out other strategies ; )

Hubby & I both grew up with dogs so there was never any hesitation in us having ours over the years. I know loads of families in our village who are first time dog owners ( having said never ) and loving it.
Good luck x

It was our children's nagging that did it for us. First I was won over, and although Joe was never very keen, he accepted that as it was four against one, he had no option but to give in. He really resented Sybil at first (for around 18 months), but recently it's become clear that he's very fond of her, even offers to do the weekend walk and, strangest of all, he's started collecting photos of other people's dogs on his phone! Good luck.

Does he/you need an excuse to go out regularly for exercise? Always a good one. Or perhaps you might become worried about burglars and so need one for guarding the house?!
Walking can relieve stress if that's applicable, reduce cholesterol, helps with osteoporosis..... so many reasons one should have a dog or two (although seven is pushing it a bit Knitsofact!) three has been our default position for sometime but two now much better.
Good luck!

I want a dog too. I think the stuffed version is definitely a good substitute for now. Maybe you could cunningly swap it for a real one day and see if Mr TH notices. - Annie
